HomeSwap.com is based in New York City. The site is lovely and well presented. There is a blog with travel information and basics on home exchange. The owners are friendly and supportive. This website focuses on ease of use and simplicity. The listing format and search tools are basic. There is an in-house messaging system to protect the privacy of members. There is a calendar to show exchange dates which are unavailable, available, or maybe available. I found it easy to create a listing, though large photo file sizes (such as 1 megabyte) take a while to load.
The challenge for new home exchange agencies is to build a large and geographically diverse membership. At the moment HomeSwap.com has less than a few hundred members, most from the Eastern United States. They are offering a free one year membership to encourage you to join.
